ENZIMI & BeatPick

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Enzimi is an organization focused on letting the Talent Out, literally!
Their focus is on promoting emerging art, music, trends and crazy new ideas that other wise lacks attention. Next Thursday, November 29th, the attention will be focused on BeatPick artists accompanied by live visual art! Together with Enzimi, this artistic event will be held at Mattatoio Testaccio in Rome, Italy at 10pm. No entrance fee (view map).

Im Anita, one of BeatPicks newest additions to our jazz selection will be performing live with a short film. They have won many awards for adapting their music to classic short films so don’t miss out! Also performing will be Leo Pari, our Italian rock funk artist with visual artist Dj Patchwork Video Crew. Our drum & bass kings, electronica masterminds and minimal down-tempo geniuses, Intiman, Autobam, Egocentrix and Sinapsya will be accompanied by Peter Damianovich and Sara Taigher’s live visuals. Rome has been dieing for an event like this so if you’re in the neighborhood come and see what will be the coolest independent artistic event to hit Rome’s doorstep.

Fiera di Roma, Midia & Romics

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Last month BeatPick joined hundreds of international businesses at the Digital Entertainment & New Media exhibition at the new Fiera di Roma, in Rome Italy. The Fiera di Rome is one of two exhibition centers in Italy.

BeatPick had a great time at the event and planning weeks in advance was well worth it. The stand, located in the Midia section next to Romics (comics and animation festival) looked amazing and BeatPick artists could be heard throughout the event. I guess you could say BeatPick brought the “party”! The speakers for the event were connected to three motion detector flat screens with animated graphics created by Sara Taigher, a video graphic designer. Each screen was based on a particular genre with graphics and music blasting the second a person stood in front of a particular screen.

Benjamin Ginsborg, one of many BeatPick employees in charge of artist submissions assisted at the event stating,

“Midia event is a great opportunity for any type of business- even small businesses have a chance to network with bigger giants in the industry. We’ve already made some great connections, and who would’ve thought that Batman, Darth Vader and Donald Duck would actually visit a Beatpick.com installation? Not only did I witness them jump from screen to screen but Darth actually got along with Batman.”

Fedora Package 8

fedora-final.jpg

If you’ve ever played free games online then you must know Fedora, a Linux based operating system that hosts the latest in open and free source software. This global community operating Fedora is known as The Fedora Project, which is leading the advancement of open software and content online. In-fact, not only can you download and play the games for free but you can create and add onto the game itself. With over 150 games available for free, it’s hard to find the right music with the right copyright. Fedora had recently discovered that the music in their game RocksnDiamonds was restricted by copyright and they would have been forced to leave the game out of the Fedora 8 package! Luckily for Fedora, BeatPick had just what they were looking for.

A Crowning Experience “Off Rythm” and Synthead’s “Come to Me” were picked for the RocksnDiamonds game which is featured in the updated Fedora 6, 7 and 8 packages. Without this collaboration, it would not have been possible for Fedora to keep the game. This is just another example of how ridiculous copyright can be and lead to a projects arrested development. Linux games are non commercial and are guaranteed fun for users all over the world, who wouldn’t want to be apart of it?!

Not only does BeatPick look forward to possible future collaborations but we can’t wait to play the latest games! To play the coolest games on the web FREE thanks to The Fedora Project, click on this link and bring it on!
